Iranian human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh has been arrested for violating Iran's mandatory headscarf law after attending the funeral of a teenage girl who died after a mysterious incident on Tehran's Metro. Armita Geravanad, the girl who died, was also not wearing a headscarf at the time she was injured. Sotoudeh, known for defending activists and women prosecuted for removing their headscarves, called Geravanad's death "another state murder." Sotoudeh was previously arrested in 2018 and sentenced to 38 years in prison.
