UN aid chief says six months of war in Sudan has killed 9,000 people

The war between Sudan's military and a paramilitary group has resulted in the deaths of up to 9,000 people and created a severe humanitarian crisis, according to the United Nations. The conflict, which started in mid-April, has led to widespread displacement and a cholera outbreak. The fighting has not only affected the capital, Khartoum, but has also spread to other areas of Sudan, including the already conflict-ridden Darfur region.
